15-Year-Old Bowie Boy Charged With Murder In DC Man's Shooting Death: Police

A 15-year-old boy from Bowie has been charged with murder in the fatal shooting of a Washington, D.C., man, police say.

BOWIE, MD — A 15-year-old boy from Bowie has been arrested in connection to the shooting death of 27-year-old Jihad Darden of Washington, D.C.

On Dec. 18, 2023, around 11:46 a.m., Fourth District officers were at Georgia Avenue and Kennedy Street NW when they heard gunshots. They headed to the 5400 block of Illinois Avenue NW where they found Darden with gunshot wounds. Darden was taken by a private vehicle to a hospital where he died.

On Feb. 7, officers with the Metropolitan Police Department and Prince Georges County police officers arrested the 15-year-old boy. He was been extradited to Washington, D.C., and charged with first-degree murder while armed. It is unclear if he will be tried as an adult.
