2 Arrested in Killing of Rapper 'Swipey' in PG County: Police

SUITLAND, MD — Police have made two arrests in connection with the killing of popular local rapper Swipey in Suitland last August.

Police arrested 19-year-old Diante Brewer and 18-year-old Deshawn Watkins, both of D.C., in connection with the killing, according to a report from the Prince George's County Police Department. The report does not indicate what charges they face, however.

Police were called to the 3600 block of Parkway Terrace Drive in Suitland just after 1 a.m. on Aug. 21 to a report of a shooting, and found 18-year-old Douglas Brooks, also known as popular local rapper "Swipey," dead from a gunshot wound.

Police believe that Brewer and Watkins intended to rob Brooks and others who were attending a party in an apartment complex in Suitland. Detectives think there are additional suspects.
