2 Fire Trucks Destroyed Fighting Blaze

Prince George's County Fire Department crews battled a three-alarm fire in Capitol Heights.

A three-alarm fire at a Capitol Heights company had smoke billowing for miles, and was visible to fans at the Washington Nationals baseball opener.

The blaze has destroyed two Prince George’s County fire trucks, according to the department’s public information officer, Mark Brady.

The fire was in the 8700 block of Ashwood Drive in Capitol Heights.

A foam-dispensing unit from Andrews Air Force Base has joined the crews fighting the blaze.

No serious injuries were reported, Brady says.

Two firefighters were treated for minor injuries.

The fire’s cause remains under investigation and no damage estimate has been released.

The department tweeted: “All crews are fine, thankfully - critically needed apparatus can be replaced.”
