PG County Schools Closed Jan 4 Due To Snow

Prince George's County Schools are closed Thursday and will star late Friday.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD -- With the "bomb cyclone" bearing down on the East Coast right now, Prince George's County has decided to close schools and offices on Thursday. The school system issued a Code Yellow so all schools and offices are closed. Emergency personnel only must report to work.

A Code Orange dated Jan. 5 has been issued for the county, meaning schools will start two hours late on Friday and conditions will be reassessed at 6:30 a.m. "for any further delays," the county said in a statement.

The D.C. area is right at the edge of the storm, and forecasters are calling for anything from a dusting to two inches of snow for our area. However, because any snow would stick and the snow is projected to fall between 4 and 7 a.m. at the start of the rush hour commute, even a small amount of snow could be potentially hazardous for commuters.
