2 Suspects Arrested In Fatal Shooting In Hyattsville

HYATTSVILLE, MD — Two suspects have been charged in connection to the fatal shooting of a 33-year-old Adelphi man that happened earlier this month.

On Sept. 6 around 4:15 a.m., Prince George's police officers were called to the 2200 block of Lewisdale Drive for a report of a shooting. They found 33-year-old Brian Vasquez Rodriguez of Adelphi sitting in the driver's seat of his vehicle with a gunshot wound. First aid was rendered, but he was pronounce dead at the scene, according to police.

On Sept. 16, authorities arrested 26-year-old Oscar Valladares Romero of Hyattsville and on Sept. 17, the PGPD's fugitive unit arrested 23-year-old Junior Villatoro Mejia of Washington, D.C., in Fairfax, Virginia. He will be extradited to Prince George's County. Valladares Romero is in the custody of the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

The police department stated that the suspects and victim did not appear to know each other. The motive for the shooting continues to be investigated.
