3 Men Charged In Fatal Shooting In Prince George's County: Police

Three men have been charged in connection with a fatal shooting that happened last month in Prince George's County.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Three men have been charged in connection to a fatal shooting in Lewisdale that happened last month.

On Sept. 5 at approximately 12:55 a.m., patrol officers were called to the 7700 block of 23rd Avenue for a shooting. Once there, they found 44-year-old Roberto Santos-Melendez of Hyattsville unresponsive in a convenience store parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation revealed the victim was shot during a dispute. The suspects - 43-year-old Carol Garcia-Rivas of Rockville, 24-year-old Deandre Smith of Hyattsville and 33-year-old Abdi Omar of Hyattsville - have been charged with first- and second-degree murder and additional charges. They are all in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
