PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — The Prince George's County Fire Department has broken ground on three new public safety facilities across the county, with construction slated to start for all three in 2017 and finish in 2018.

The first groundbreaking took place near Oxon Hill High School on Nov. 7, where the new Fire/EMS station 851 will be built. The fire station will have four bays, and will house an engine, ladder, truck, ambulance and battalion chief, according to a Prince George's County Fire/EMS statement.

On Nov. 22, County Executive Rushern Baker joined local public safety leaders to break ground for a new Public Safety Pier at National Harbor in Oxon Hill, which will provide a launching point for fire, EMS and public safety watercraft, the statement notes.
