3 Teens Charged In Armed Carjacking Of D.C. Rideshare Driver: Prince George's Police

Three teens, including 2 from Prince George's, have been charged in connection to the armed carjacking of a rideshare driver, police say.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD โ€” Two teenagers from Greenbelt and Hyattsville are part of a trio of suspects police have charged in connection to an armed carjacking in Southeast, D.C.

At approximately 5:18 p.m. Jan. 20, the victim, who is a rideshare driver, picked up the three suspects at South Capitol Street and Southern Avenue, S.W. The suspects told the driver to take them to an alley in the area of Horner Place and Wilmington Place, Southeast. One of the suspects pulled out a handgun and demanded the victimโ€™s car keys. When the victim refused, the suspects assaulted the victim and took the victimโ€™s property then took off in the victimโ€™s vehicle, according to Prince George's Police.

With help from multiple law enforcement agencies and MPDโ€™s helicopter, the suspects were apprehended that same day and the victimโ€™s vehicle and property recovered. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment. A 15-year-old boy from Southeast Washington, D.C., has been charged with armed carjacking and unauthorized use of a vehicle. A 14-year-old boy from Hyattsville and a 15-year-old boy from Greenbelt both have been charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, the police department said.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a violent crime committed in the District of Columbia.
