9 Suspected Pipe Bombs Discovered At Park
Authorities confirmed that five suspected pipe bombs were found at a park Sunday afternoon and four more on Monday.
FORT WASHINGTON, MD — Five suspicious devices resembling pipe bombs were discovered Sunday afternoon in Fort Washington Park.
U.S. Park Police officers were called to the park around 2:15 p.m. Sunday for a report of two suspicious packages found in a wooded area of the park. Authorities immediately shut down the park out of precaution.
A sweep of the park by U.S. Park Police revealed three more suspicious devices.

The Prince George's County Fire and EMS Department's explosive ordnance disposal unit was called in to help. The five devices were safely deactivated.
Experts returned to the area Monday for a more in depth sweep of the area and four additional devices were found for a total of nine, officials said.
