PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — The Durant Family Foundation donated 500 turkeys and groceries for Thanksgiving dinner to Prince George's County families.
The drive-thru distribution was held at Bishop McNamara High School on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies lasted.
"It is an honor and a pleasure for the Durant Family Foundation to support families in our community during the holidays and we do so with humble hearts and grateful spirits,” Wanda Durant, mother of NBA star Kevin Durant (Brooklyn Nets) and businessman Anthony Durant, said in a news release. "It's always a blessing to give back. I'm grateful we are in a position to support the community."

Durant grew up in Prince George's County and played basketball at National Christian Academy in Fort Washington, Maryland; Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia; and Rockville's Montrose Christian School. He played one season at the University of Texas, before he was drafted by the Seattle SuperSonics in 2007.
In 2018, The Washington Post reported that Durant planned to give $10 million to Prince George's County Public Schools and College Track. The program will help students get tutoring, test preparation and financial aid.
Durant also produced a documentary that examined why Prince George's County produces so many great basketball players, according to news reports. Durant's Thirty Five Ventures company produced the documentary, entitled "In the Water," according to The Sports Business Journal. The film will focus on Durant and other players from Prince George's County, such as University of Maryland standout Len Bias and Victor Olapido, the all-star guard for the Pacers. Other basketball talent that came from PG County include Markell Fultz, Jeff Green, Quinn Cook, and Ty Lawson.
