7 Day a Week Postal Service Delivery Under Way in Bowie

Neither rain, nor gloom nor Sundays will keep U.S. Postal Service carriers off the job this holiday season.

The service plans to deliver to Bowie and other parts of the D.C. region on Sundays through Christmas.

The agency, which already has a partnership with Amazon.com for Sunday deliveries, says it will deliver to major cities and other high-volume areas seven days a week starting this week and running through Christmas Day.

The extra delivery day will help the postal service deliver an estimated 470 million packages this holiday season, up from 420 million last year, the Wall Street Journal reports. Letter carriers will also deliver more than 12 billion cards and letters in the next month.

The seven-day-a-week delivery schedule includes some Bowie zip codes: 20711-20712; 20714-20716; and 20720.
