$850K Awarded To 39 Nonprofits From Prince George's FY22 Local Impact Grant Program
Nearly 40 Prince George's nonprofits have been awarded $850K through the FY22 Local Impact Grant Program.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — The Prince George’s County Local Development Council has unanimously approved 39 grant awards for the fiscal year 2022 Local Impact Grant Program cycle, the highest awarded in the history of the Council. More than $2 million was requested in total with all $850,000 available grant funds allocated.
“We are excited to have received an overwhelming number of grant applications for this year’s Local Impact Grant Program,” Prince George's County Executive Angela Alsobrooks said. “Due to the efforts of our Local Development Council, 39 non-profit organizations have been awarded grant funding to assist the communities surrounding the MGM National Harbor, the most our Council has ever awarded. We are proud to have so many local organizations that support our efforts in improving the overall quality of life for all Prince Georgians and we are confident that they will make a lasting impact in these communities for years to come.”
The Local Impact Grant Program supports non-profit organizations that serve Prince George’s County within the six-mile radius around the MGM National Harbor gaming facility. Of the grantees awarded, 64 percent were first time applicants and represent a diverse spectrum of services that will be delivered to the impact area. Grantees will address issues related to economic development, youth sports, mental health, crisis intervention, arts and humanities, mentoring programs, food insecurity, workforce education and training, housing services, environmental education, community development and childcare services.
