98 Offers Awarded To Prince George's Police Candidates
In a one-day fast-track event, the Prince George's Police Dept. extended 98 offers to candidates interested in joining the PGPD.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Nearly 100 job applicants were extended offers at a one-day recruiting event held by the Prince George's County Police Department.
The “Fast Track Hiring Event” was held at PGPD headquarters in Upper Marlboro last Saturday. The recruiting and background division hosted the one-day event that was designed to move qualified candidates through multiple steps of the hiring process in a single day. Applicants completed a physical test, an oral board, a written test and a preliminary background screening. These steps in the hiring process usually take weeks, if not months.
Interested applicants traveled from 10 states to participate in the hiring event – from as far away as Illinois, Florida and New York. Nine candidates are currently experienced police officers with other agencies who are interested in potentially now joining the PGPD, officials said.

At the end of the day, the PGPD processed 132 applicants and extended 98 conditional job offers. The accepted applicants now will go through a more extensive background process with the goal of placing them in an upcoming academy class, the police department stated.
The PGPD said it plans to hold more one-day recruiting events down the road.
