AK-47 Found Near Man Who Was Struck and Killed in Upper Marlboro: Report

The victim was reportedly the boyfriend of the driver's daughter.

UPPER MARLBORO, MD — Police reportedly found an assault rifle near the body of a man who was struck and killed by a car at an Upper Marlboro shopping center on Monday.

WTOP reports that at around 8:30 a.m., the driver of an SUV struck and killed a man walking in the Marlborough Village shopping center off Brown Station Road, and an assault rifle was found at the scene, although police say they were still investigating how it got there.

The victim was the boyfriend of the driver's daughter, according to the report. The gun found near the man's body was reportedly an AK-47.

Police later identified the deceased as 21-year-old Nathanial McKinnon. Police confirmed that McKinnon was in possession of a gun and are investigating whether it was a case of self-defense. The driver remained at the scene.
