Darren Robinson is accused of breaking into a woman's apartment and sexually assaulting her on Sunday.

NEW CARROLLTON, MD — The man accused of breaking into a woman's apartment in New Carrollton and then sexually assaulting her before stealing items from her house has been arrested thanks to the actions of "alert citizens," according to a report from the Prince George's County Police Department.

Police issued an arrest warrant for 23-year-old Darren Samuel Robinson after they say he broke into the victim's apartment in the 5400 block of 85th Avenue at around 7 a.m. on Sept. 11 and then "sexually assaulted the victim and stole several items from her home before running out," the report states.

On Sept. 13, police "received calls from two alert citizens this afternoon who spotted the suspect at the Huntington Metro Station after we released his photo," the report adds. Metro Transit Police were able to take Robinson into custody, and he is now awaiting extradition from Fairfax County to Prince George's County.
