American Job Center National Harbor Opens In Prince George's County

The first American Job Center to be located inside a Tanger Outlets shopping center in the nation has opened in Prince George's County.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — The first job center to be located in southern Prince George's County opened recently at Tanger Outlets in National Harbor. The American Job Center National Harbor will offer free access to employment, education and training resources, and becomes the second AJC in the county since 2008, according to the company. It's also the first American Job Center to be located inside a Tanger Outlets shopping center in the nation.

The American Job Center National Harbor is part of a national network of career resource centers funded by the Workforce Investment Opportunity Act. Employ Prince George’s, the county’s workforce development agency, secured $1 million in funding to build the American Job Center National Harbor with the support of the Office of the County Executive, County Council and the Local Development Council. This location will serve more than 10,000 residents and businesses a year with specialized programs for graduating high school and college seniors, residents requesting public assistance, residents seeking to increase their employability skills, and residents seeking employment in various work industries.

The American Job Center National Harbor also will be a home for nonprofit organizations, government agencies and community-based organizations to provide workforce development and educational services to residents living in southern Prince George’s County.
