LAUREL, MD — K9 Zeke proved recently that his sniffer can detect more than just criminals.
On April 15, Laurel police officers were notified of an armed suspect who had threatened a resident. Responding officers found the suspect near the scene, but the suspect took off. Officers pursued the suspect on foot and were able to apprehend him, according to the police department.
However, the weapon used by the suspect wasn't on the suspect's body. So K9 Zeke was deployed to conduct a scent track.
In no time at all, K9 Zeke hunted down the weapon that the suspect had tossed.
"Through his assistance, the concealed weapon was located and recovered, ensuring an illegal firearm used in a violent offense was removed from our community," the Laurel Police Department stated.
