ACCOKEEK, MD — Detectives are investigating Friday morning's fatal crash involving a school bus and two other vehicles.
The incident happened around 7:20 a.m. at the intersection of Indian Head Highway and Pine Drive.
The preliminary investigation indicates that 23-year-old Dequan Gravely of Bryans Road was heading northbound on Indian Head Highway approaching Pine Drive. According to police, a Prince George’s County Schools bus was turning left from southbound Indian Head Highway onto Pine Drive.
For reasons now being investigated, Gravely’s car and the bus collided in the intersection, causing the bus to flip onto its side. Investigators believe debris from that collision damaged a third vehicle, the police department stated.
Gravely died at the scene. The bus driver suffered injuries not considered life-threatening. The third driver declined medical attention.
