LANDOVER, MD — For the first time since 1994, the men's FIFA World Cup games will be held in the U.S. and Prince George's leaders are planning a two-day festival to celebrate its return.
FIFA World Cup matches in the U.S. will be held in 11 cities including Boston, Massachusetts; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and East Rutherford, New Jersey. The 2026 FIFA World Cup also will be held for the first time in three host nations: Canada, Mexico and the U.S.
The famed Philadelphia Stadium will host six matches, including a history-making July 4 showdown. Multiple matches in Massachusetts will be played at Boston Stadium. Eight FIFA World Cup 2026 matches will be played in New York-New Jersey.
The Prince George’s County World Cup Festival, a free two-day community celebration hosted in partnership with EagleSport Holdings, will be held at the Prince George’s County Sports and Learning Complex in Landover.
The festival will transform the Sports and Learning Complex into a place where residents and visitors can celebrate the FIFA World Cup with food trucks, artists, performers and small business vendors.
On June 12, residents can enjoy a large scale World Cup watch party featuring a live broadcast of the USA vs. Paraguay FIFA World Cup match on giant LED screens with concert-quality sound. There also will be live performances, halftime entertainment and appearances by professional athletes and cultural influencers.
On June 13, the celebration continues with the Youth World Championship Tournament where youth teams representing their countries of heritage will compete in a dynamic showcase.
“This festival is a continuation of our commitment to providing meaningful experiences for our residents that also stimulate our local economy,” said Prince George’s County Executive Aisha N. Braveboy announced today. “Prince George’s County is one of the most diverse communities in the country, and we are proud to embrace and celebrate that diversity. This is a joint opportunity to uplift our community while driving economic development. For years, residents have called for high-quality entertainment and sporting experiences right here in the county, and we are delivering on that promise.”
The Prince George’s County World Cup Festival is free and open to the public.
"With the FIFA World Cup coming to our region, soccer in America is entering a once-in-a-generation moment, and Prince George’s County has an opportunity to be right at the center of it,” said David Okhumale, managing partner for EagleSport. "We are excited to partner with Prince George’s County to create an experience that brings families together, from cheering on the U.S. Men’s National Team to watching young players take the field in our youth tournament. The long-term success of the game will be built in communities like ours, where future fans, players and leaders first fall in love with soccer. EagleSport Fest is about making sure our community is not just watching soccer’s future unfold, but helping shape it. Free, in our backyard, and for everyone.”
