Car Crashes Into Outdoor Liquid Oxygen Tank

Emergency responders were called to a nursing and rehab center after a vehicle crashed into an outdoor liquid oxygen tank.

CHILLUM, MD — A vehicle crashed into an outdoor liquid oxygen tank connected to the Complete Care Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation located in the 4900 block of La Salle Road Wednesday morning.

Emergency workers were called to the nursing and rehabilitation center shortly after 9:15 a.m., according to authorities. Shortly thereafter, HazMat crews and mutual aid responders from a mutual aid call arrived to help.

Crews quickly worked to assess the situation and determine if the crash had caused an oxygen leak or safety threat to the residents inside the five-story assisted living facility. No immediate threat was discovered, but all oxygen-using patients were evaluated, according to the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS.

No details have been released about the driver or what led to the crash.
