PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — An in-person meet-up to exchange goods sold online turned violent and has landed one man behind bars.
Davon Wider has been convicted of four counts of armed robbery, four counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence, four counts of illegal possession of a firearm by a prohibited person under the age of 21, one count of carrying a handgun and two counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
"Wider used Facebook Marketplace and OfferUp to arrange fake jewelry purchases before luring victims to the Peppermill Community Center and robbing them at gunpoint," Prince George's County State's Attorney Tara Jackson said.
Sentencing for Wider has been scheduled for August.
