CAPITOL HEIGHTS, MD — A 20-year-old suspect has been charged in the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Ky-Mari Bowman of Waldorf.
On Feb. 4 around 3:20 p.m., Prince George's police officers were called to the 500 block of Abel Avenue for a report of a shooting. They found Bowman outside with gunshot wounds. He died a short time later at a hospital, according to police.
Detectives identified Roland Andre Carter, Jr., as the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant. United States Park Police officers arrested Carter in Washington, D.C., during an unrelated stop late last week.
The preliminary investigation suggests the shooting stemmed from an argument and that both individuals knew each other, according to police.
Carter has been charged with first- and second-degree murder and related charges. He remains in custody in Washington, D.C., pending extradition to Prince George’s County.
Investigators are working to locate and arrest a second suspect.
