JESSUP, MD — A Prince George's County man is facing charges after what authorities called a road rage shooting on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway in Jessup.
Darius Bryant, 21, was arrested and charged with attempted murder and other related counts following the incident that occurred around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday near the exit for Arundel Mills Boulevard in Anne Arundel County.
According to Maryland State Police, the victim, who was not identified, was driving a white Dodge van northbound when he was struck by gunfire on the driver’s side. A passenger inside the van was not injured.
After the incident occurred, the victim drove himself to a nearby hospital, where he was met by troopers. He was taken to a local trauma center, where he continues to receive treatment for his injuries.
The victim provided police with a description of the suspect's vehicle and dash camera footage. About an hour later, the white Genesis G70 was located in Washington, D.C. by U.S. Park Police.
The driver, whom police later identified as Bryant, was taken into custody.
During a search of Bryant's car, authorities said police recovered a loaded gun. The Maryland State Police K-9 Unit also recovered a spent shell casing.
Bryant is currently being processed as a fugitive in Washington, D.C., and is awaiting extradition to Maryland.
