Suspect Wanted In 6-Year-Old Homicide Case Apprehended

LANDOVER, MD — The suspect wanted in the 2020 fatal shooting of 22-year-old Andre Cox, Jr. in Landover has been arrested.

The Prince George's Police Department announced Wednesday that the suspect, 34-year-old Dayvon Gordon, was found and apprehended in Washington, D.C., Tuesday evening.

On Oct. 27, 2020, Prince George's police officers were called to the 3200 block of 75th Avenue for a report of a shooting. Cox was found outside with multiple gunshot wounds and died a short time later. Gordon was identified as the suspect and an arrest warrant was issued.

However, efforts to find him in the past six years were unsuccessful. The PGPD, the U.S. Marshals Service and the victim’s parents recently made public pleas for information as to Gordon's whereabouts.

The PGPD’s Fugitive Unit, which is part of the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, located and arrested Gordon Tuesday.

Gordon has been charged with first- and second-degree murder and related charges. He remains in custody in Washington, D.C., pending extradition to Prince George’s County.

“In addition to our tremendous law enforcement partners, the PGPD is also appreciative of members of the media and the community for assisting us by sharing information on our years-long search for Gordon. It took each component to finally bring this murder suspect into custody. Hopefully this arrest brings some comfort to Andre’s still grieving family,” said Prince George’s County Police Chief George Nader, Department.
