MARYLAND — Drivers using the Capital Beltway near the Woodrow Wilson Bridge should expect overnight delays beginning Monday as state road crews start a pavement improvement project.

Workers will resurface the asphalt bridge approaches on Interstate 95/Interstate 495 at the Woodrow Wilson Drawbridge from Monday through Aug. 14, weather permitting, according to a news release from the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration.

Work will require double-lane closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night. Transportation officials are advising motorists to allow extra travel time while the project is underway.

BIMS and Construction Paving of Baltimore will perform the work. Crews will use advance warning signs, traffic drums, cones and variable message signs to direct traffic safely through the work zone.

The State Highway Administration is reminding drivers to slow down, stay alert and avoid distractions when traveling through construction zones. Motorists who need emergency roadside assistance can dial #77 from a mobile phone.
