$1M Winning Powerball Ticket Bought In College Park As Jackpot Grows

Someone from Prince George's Co. missed the Saturday Powerball jackpot by one number. Instead, someone walks away with $1 million.

COLLEGE PARK, MD — No one snagged the estimated $719 million Powerball jackpot Saturday night, but a lucky lotto player from Prince George's County is $1 million richer.

A ticket sold at the 7-Eleven at 8905 Rhode Island Ave. in College Park won a $1 million prize in Saturday night's Powerball drawing by matching the first five numbers that were drawn (6, 17, 27, 48 and 50). It missed winning the jackpot because it did not match the Powerball number (5), according to the Maryland Lottery.

Saturday night's drawing also yielded a $50,000 prize on a ticket sold at Max Liquors at 736 Frederick Rd. in Catonsville that matched four of the first five numbers plus the Powerball number.

The two big wins in College Park and Catonsville were among 30,658 tickets sold in Maryland that won varying amounts of prizes in Saturday's Powerball drawing. The game has nine different prize levels, ranging from $4 to the jackpot. Maryland Lottery winners have 182 days from the drawing date to claim their prizes.

The Powerball jackpot now rises to an estimated $748 million for Monday's drawing,, with an estimated cash value of $325.1 million.

The Powerball jackpot was last hit on May 2. In the three months since then, Powerball players in Maryland have won more than $6 million in prizes, including the pair of $1 million wins in College Park and Odenton; a $100,000 prize in Edgewood; and 13 prizes of $50,000 on tickets sold in Annapolis (2), Beltsville, Bethesda, Catonsville, Greenbelt, Hyattsville, North Beach, North East, Nottingham, Sykesville, Waldorf and Wheaton.
