LANDOVER, MD — Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened Thursday in Landover.
Prince George's County Police reported Friday that they found 41-year-old Malcolm King of Silver Spring in the 6900 block of Stoddert Lane with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The shooting suspect fled the scene, according to police.
Within hours of the fatal shooting, PGPD homicide unit detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect. The suspect and victim knew each other, police said, and the shooting stemmed from an ongoing business dispute between the pair.
Members of the PGPD's Fugitive Unit, which is part of the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, found the suspect Friday morning in the Baltimore area and followed him to the Aberdeen area, according to police.
However, before officers could take him into custody, the suspect shot and killed himself in his vehicle, authorities said. Maryland State Police is leading the investigation into the suspect's death.
MSP will release the suspect's name once his family has been notified.
