PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Six suspects have been charged in a multi-jurisdiction retail theft ring, according to the Prince George's County Police Department.
The investigation, led by the police department's organized retail theft task force, launched in February 2025 after a series of retail thefts in the county were reported. When the PGPD's task force was created in February of 2026, the investigation expanded into multiple states including Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware and the District of Columbia.
A team of Prince George's police detectives spent hundreds of hours investigating the organized retail theft ring. They believe the six suspects targeted more than 100 businesses and stole from them more than once, the police department stated.
Detectives estimate the suspects stole more than $500,000 worth of merchandise. The suspects then would sell the stolen items on social media or in private sales, according to police.

When Prince George's police officers, along with Maryland State Police, the Metropolitan Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations, executed six search warrants simultaneously in both Maryland and Washington, D.C., they uncovered approximately $20,000 worth of stolen merchandise with attached security tags.
Additional arrests are expected, police said.
