OXON HILL, MD — Detectives are investigating a now fatal shooting that happened earlier this month. The victim died at the hospital Aug. 16.
Prince George's police officers were called to the 6200 block of Oxon Hill Road for a report of shooting on Aug. 7 around 6:45 p.m. They found 45-year-old Oscar Guevara with gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital where he died more than a week later.
Prince George's police detectives teamed up with the Washington Area Metropolitan Transit Authority Police and identified 25-year-old Jeremiah Hammond of Washington, D.C., as the suspect. He has been arrested and charged with attempted murder, as well as other related charges. Other charges could be forthcoming.
Hammond was taken to the Department of Corrections where he remains on a no-bond status. The investigation continues and anyone with additional information relevant to the case who would like to speak to a detective is asked to call 301-516-2512.
