BRANDYWINE, MD — The Independent Investigations Division of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General is investigating a police-involved collision that happened Tuesday in Brandywine near the county line between Prince George's County and Charles County.
On Tuesday at approximately 10:20 a.m., officers with the Charles County Sheriff's Office stopped a car on behalf of law enforcement in Arlington County, Virginia, but the vehicle sped off from the traffic stop.
Deputies pursued the car, which crashed into two other vehicles on Route 301, just south of McKendree Road. Deputies arrived at the crash site and found two women in the target vehicle who were taken to an area hospital, one of whom was in grave condition, law enforcement stated.
A woman in one of the uninvolved cars also was injured and taken to the hospital. No officers were injured in the incident.
The IID, with assistance from the Maryland State Police Crash Team, is investigating the circumstances leading up to the collision. Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to contact the IID at (410) 576-7070 or by email at IID@oag.maryland.gov.
The IID will generally release the name of any involved officers within two business days of the incident, although that period may be extended if necessary.
