• Former Bowie police sergeant sentenced after judge says shooting followed 'nonthreatening' encounter (wtop.com) — A former Bowie police sergeant has been sentenced to 30 years, with all but 18 months on home detention, for a 2024 shooting along Collington Road in Bowie. A judge found the encounter with a stranded driver and companion was nonthreatening and should never have escalated to gunfire, leading to convictions including attempted second-degree murder and misconduct in office.
