CAPITOL HEIGHTS, MD — Columbia Woodworking has opened a new 70,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Capitol Heights, expanding the company's capacity for large commercial millwork projects across the East Coast.
Founded in 1978, Columbia Woodworking specializes in custom architectural millwork manufacturing and installation. The company said the new facility was designed for high-volume commercial production and includes investments in automation, woodworking technology and manufacturing systems.
The expansion includes custom-designed Biesse material handling equipment, advanced CNC machining and expanded finishing capabilities intended to improve production efficiency, precision and material flow.
Columbia also upgraded its enterprise resource planning and operational management systems to better connect estimating, project management, planning, engineering, purchasing and manufacturing.
The expanded operation will support projects involving commercial interiors, office spaces, multifamily amenity areas, senior living facilities, private schools, entertainment venues and places of worship.
