UPPER MARLBORO, MD — Malik Davon Boomer has been convicted in the murder and armed robbery of a 30-year-old Upper Marlboro man, according to prosecutors.
Boomer has been found guilty by a jury of murder, use of a firearm in a felony or crime of violence and armed robbery in connection to the death of Randon Akil Howard.
On Sept. 10, 2025, around 8:15 a.m., Prince George's County police officers were called to the area of Grandhaven Avenue and Old Colony Drive for a report of an unresponsive person.
Officers found Howard outside with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
Boomer was dropped off at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center with gunshot wounds.
Investigators recovered two firearms and multiple shell casings near the shooting scene, according to prosecutors.
During the investigation, authorities discovered digital evidence on Howard's cellphone linking Boomer to a drug transaction at the location shortly before the shooting.
Prosecutors said witness statements, surveillance footage, and license plate reader information also helped connect Boomer to the crime.
Boomer is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 22, 2027.
