Prince George's Hosting Aquatics Job Fair, Online Water Safety Class
Prince George's is hosting an aquatics job fair and offering an online water safety class for families.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — In recognition of National Water Safety Month in May, the Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation offers a free online course from the American Red Cross to help develop an awareness of water risks and how to minimize the danger of drowning or water-related injuries, especially for young children.
Parents are invited to participate in Water Safety for Parents and Caregivers and sign their children up for swim lessons here.
“Children not exposed to swimming and water safety are more likely to drown than children who have taken swimming lessons and water safety courses,” said Tara Eggleston Stewart, Aquatics and Athletic Facilities Division Chief at the Department. “Learning to swim, becoming water competent, and participating in water safety can play a vital role in changing these statistics in Prince George’s County.”

The county also is hosting a job fair Thursday from noon to 4 p.m. at the Prince George’s County Sports & Learning Complex. Positions available include lifeguards, water fitness instructors, water safety instructors, pool managers, swim lesson aids and customer service representatives.
Outdoor pools open May 28 for the summer 2022 season. Due to the popularity of the department’s outdoor pools, swimmers should make advanced reservations via Parks Direct up to seven days prior to their visit. Drop-in/day of admission will be available depending upon the pool’s operating capacity.
