Are 50,000 Amazon Jobs About To Flood Into Prince George's County?
There's a few reasons to think that the tech giant could choose our area for a second headquarters.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Amazon is going to make one region in America very happy when it makes its choice for a second headquarters that will house a staggering 50,000 employees across an estimated 33 buildings. Could Prince George's County's reputation as a growing tech hotspot in the suburbs of D.C. help it land such a huge deal? Local officials certainly think so.
Amazon's announcement that they are searching for a place to make a massive expansion into a new market has gotten cities all across the nation plugging their own bona fides to handle the tech giant. D.C., Arlington, and Fairfax County on the Virginia side have all made it known that they're interested in hosting Amazon and have the capability to do so. But what about Prince George's County?
The county certainly fits the bill: Amazon is looking for a city with a strong reputation in the tech world and a population of at least 1 million people -- which works if you count it as part of the D.C. area. The company also wants access to a large and diverse talent pool -- check -- and be close to an international airport -- double check, with Baltimore-Washington International Airport right up the road.

“We’re prepared to offer incentives, but we don’t really think incentives are what’s going to drive this,” County Executive Rushern Baker told reporters recently according to a WTOP report. “You can’t get away from the fact that we have major universities located near the sites we’re talking about.”
Prince George's County is certainly no stranger to marketing itself to large projects. Until the proposal fell apart earlier this year, the county had been in the running to build the new FBI headquarters, which would have been a massive project.

If Amazon were to relocate to PG County, the best locations would most likely be in College Park, Greenbelt, and New Carrollton.
