Arrests Made in Robbery Turned Deadly Shooting

A Clinton man was fatally shot be two men in Fort Washington this weekend, Prince George's County Police say.

FORT WASHINGTON, MD — Two suspects are charged with murder in Sunday’s shooting death of Larry Ellis Jr., 33, of Osgood Court in Clinton.

The suspects are Tyron Taylor, 29, of the 4500 block of Payne Drive in Fort Washington and James Baskins, 25, of the 200 block of Morgan Street in Northwest Washington, police say.

The Prince George’s County Police Department says officers were called early Sunday to the 3900 block of Kilbourne Drive in Fort Washington for a welfare check. They found Ellis outside suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Detectives quickly established Taylor and Baskins as suspects and believe the motive was robbery. The suspects and victim were acquaintances.

Taylor and Baskins were arrested Sunday night in Fort Washington; both are charged with first- and second-degree murder and related charges.
