Enjoy Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month Celebrations In Prince George's County
Watch dance, music and martial arts performances during two special events as part of Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month in May.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Dance, martial arts and music performances highlighting the diverse traditions, heritage and contributions of South Asia, China, Korea, India, the Pacific Islands and more are planned for May in celebration of Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
A reception will kick things off May 6 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Newton White Mansion 2708 Enterprise Road, Mitchellville. There will be performances by Washington Samulnori, Teen World Dancers, Somapa Thai Dance Company, Meki’s Tamure Polynesian Arts Group, Tai Yim Kung Fu School and more. Children’s hands-on activities will be presented by Arts on a Roll.
On May 7 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Southern Area Aquatics and Recreation Complex, 13601 Missouri Avenue, Brandywine, will a festival recognizing the history, culture, music, food and customs of the Pacific Islands and the continent of Asia through activities, music, games, crafts, contests and demonstrations. Meki’s Tamure Polynesian Arts Group also will perform.
