ATV Rider Killed, Child Injured After Crash With Motorcyclist Who Left The Scene: Police

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A 41-year-old Upper Marlboro man was killed when his ATV and a motorcycle crashed. A child riding on the ATV was injured and the motorcyclist took off.

The incident happened Nov. 17 around 8:50 p.m. in the area of Woodyard Road and Sherwood Drive. Michael Kelly was pronounced dead on the scene and the child riding on the ATV with him was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Prince George's Police said.

The preliminary investigation indicates Kelly was traveling northbound on Woodyard Road and the motorcyclist was heading southbound. It appears the motorcycle and ATV briefly collided, causing the ATV to lose control. Efforts are underway to identify the rider and locate the motorcycle, the police said.

Police are trying to identify the motorcyclist involved in the collision who did not remain on the scene. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the collision analysis and reconstruction unit at 301-731-4422.
