Aviation Landing Development Unveiled In Prince George's County
Aviation Landing, a proposed development in Prince George's, will offer housing, retail and public transportation platforms.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD— A county-owned 2.6-acre site used for parking for several years will be incorporated as part of a multi-use development.
“We are so proud of the development of Aviation Landing as it will showcase one of Prince George’s County’s and the University of Maryland’s jewels, our Discovery District,” said Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks. “This effort will help us meet our goal of densifying transportation corridors and creating a network of walkable, street-level uses for our residents while becoming yet another marquee destination in our county. We want to thank all of the partners who have come together to create this vision for Aviation Landing.”
Aviation Landing will feature a mix of housing options, retail dedicated to selling healthy food options and other amenities, Alsobrooks explained.

The county property will be part of the first phase of Aviation Landing with more than 900 residential units, a portion of which will fall into the affordable living category. This will create a workforce housing hub that will integrate with the university’s mission and the city of College Park’s goals, as well as generate jobs and attract private investment in the Discovery District and the county, officials noted.
“At the University of Maryland, we invest in people and communities, and this is a community investment made possible through partnership,” said University of Maryland President Dr. Darryll J. Pines. “Benefiting both our campus and our county, Aviation Landing capitalizes on a strategic location where a research university, regional airport and public transportation converge.”
