Bail Denied For Suspect Missing For 6 Years In Landover Fatal Shooting

LANDOVER, MD — The suspect sought by authorities for six years in the fatal shooting of a Landover man has been denied bail, authorities said.

Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Tara Jackson announced Monday that 34-year-old Dayvon Gordon will be held without bond in connection to the fatal shooting of 22-year-old Andre Cox Jr. in Landover in October 2020.

Gordon was found and apprehended in Washington, D.C., July 21.

On Oct. 27, 2020, Prince George's police officers were called to the 3200 block of 75th Avenue for a report of a shooting. Cox was found outside with multiple gunshot wounds and died a short time later. Gordon was identified as the suspect and an arrest warrant was issued.

However, efforts to find him in the past six years were unsuccessful. The PGPD’s Fugitive Unit, which is part of the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, located and arrested Gordon in Washington, D.C.

Gordon has been charged with first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, firearm use in the commission of a violent crime, reckless endangerment and wear, carry and transport of a handgun.
