Bartender Killed Bowie Restaurant's Owners, Manager: Report

The triple homicide at a Bowie restaurant reportedly stemmed from a dispute between a bartender and ownership.

BOWIE, MD โ€” The man who police say fatally shot three people at a Bowie restaurant Sunday morning was a bartender there, and his victims were two owners and a manager, according to a report.

CBS DC reports that the manager of the Blue Sunday Bar & Grill checked security video remotely after missing an expected call early Sunday and saw three people who appeared to be unconscious, prompting the manager to call authorities.

Two of the men died at the scene and the third was in critical condition, dying later at the hospital. They were two owners and a manager of the restaurant, and were identified as 46-year-old Sherwood Morgan, 27-year-old Jin Chen and 28-year-old Xue Zou.

Police believe the shooter is 40-year-old Karlief Moye, who worked as a bartender there. He had been involved in an ongoing dispute with management over an unknown issue.

As police closed in on Moye in Silver Spring, he ran into nearby woods and shot himself twice, according to police. He is being treated at a hospital, and he faces three counts of first-degree murder.
