Body Cam Footage Released In Fatal Police-Involved Crash In Brandywine

BRANDYWINE, MD — Body-worn camera and dashboard camera footage from a fatal police-involved crash has been released by the Independent Investigations Division of the Maryland Attorney General's Office.

On Aug. 25 at approximately 10:20 a.m., officers with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office stopped a car on behalf of law enforcement in Arlington County, Virginia, but the vehicle sped off from the traffic stop.

Deputies pursued the car, which crashed into two other vehicles on Route 301, just south of McKendree Road. Deputies arrived at the crash site and found two women in the target vehicle who were taken to an area hospital, one of whom was in grave condition, law enforcement stated.

A woman in one of the uninvolved cars also was injured and taken to the hospital. Alexis Cummings, 33, of Temple Hills died in that crash, according to police. No officers were injured in the incident.
