4/10 – 4/25 – Flyin’ West at Bowie Playhouse Following the end of the Civil War, many former slaves, anxious to leave the South and the increasing disappointments and dangers of Reconstruction, took advantage of the Homestead Act and went West to build new lives for themselves and their families. Set in 1898, Flyin’ West is the story of some of these African-American female pioneers who settled, together, in the all-black town of Nicodemus, Kansas. Produced by Bowie Community Theatre. 4/13 – Special City Council Meeting - Budget Introduction followed by Budget Worksession #1 – 8 p.m. at City Hall. The following portions of the Budget will be reviewed: General Fund Revenues, CIP, and Capital Projects Fund.

4/18 – Camp Fair at the Gym – 10 - 2 p.m. The City of Bowie Gymnasium and Chesapeake Family Magazine are co-hosting this one day Camp and Activity Fair on April 18, Discover a variety of overnight, local and out-of-state summer experiences including tennis, sailing, horseback riding, and specialty camps such as dance, music, nature and karate.
