Bowie Driver Charged in Edgewater Motorcyclist's Death
T.J. Humphrey died when a car pulled out in front of him, police say. The victim's wife works in Odenton and a fundraiser is ongoing.

A Bowie woman who reportedly pulled into the path of a motorcycle in July, causing a crash that killed the Edgewater motorcyclist, has been charged in the accident.
The Capital Gazette reports Peggy Armstead Minnis, 66, of Bowie was cited Friday with negligent driving and failing to yield a right of way. She faces fines of $280 and $750 if convicted in the case.

at the intersection of Davidsonville Road and Governor Bridge Road, Patch previously reported. Investigators say Humphrey’s 2007 Harley Davidson Sportster motorcycle was southbound on Davidsonville Road approaching Governor Bridge Road when a 2004 Toyota Avalon driven by Minnis pulled into the path of the motorcycle.
Humphrey was unable to stop and struck the driver’s side of the Toyota Avalon. He was thrown onto the roadway and taken by Maryland State Police helicopter to University of Maryland Shock Trauma, where he later died from his injuries.

Police say Humphrey was not wearing a helmet that met state law.
Minnis and her passenger, Frederick G, Minnis, 69, also of Bowie, were treated for minor injuries.
Authorities said neither speed nor alcohol played a role in the fatal crash.
Humphrey is survived by his wife, Amy, and their two children, Brooklyn Humphrey
, 2, and 3-month-old son, Jaxon, reports the newspaper. The young father graduated from Bowie High School in 2002 and worked at Severn Auto Body in Annapolis.
