Bowie Drug Crimes Spike; Police Make Several Arrests: Reports
Bowie police battled a spike in drug crimes in February. That led to a crackdown and a string of arrests, reports said.

BOWIE, MD — Drug arrests are usually limited in Bowie, but police cracked down on these crimes in February. Officers said they made 10 drug arrests last month, eight of which came in the last reported week. The Bowie Police Department also mentioned an uptick in gun violations, pointing to five weapons arrests last month.
"The recovery of these weapons and drugs has further ensured the safety of streets that many call 'home,'" the department posted on Facebook. "We extend our thanks for your support in alerting our department to continued drug use and/or suspicious activity as we continue to diligently patrol the City of Bowie."
The largest drug bust came on Feb. 19, records show. Police informed that they found 191 grams of marijuana during a traffic stop at the corner of Crain Highway and Heritage Boulevard. The incident led to three arrests, a write-up added.
