Bowie Man Charged With Breaching White House Security Barrier

Ryan Cain was questioned by the Secret Service, then climbed a security barrier, saying he was there to collect money, officials say.

WASHINGTON, DC β€” A Bowie man arrested for allegedly climbing a security barrier at the White House reportedly told authorities he was there β€œto collect money” after hearing his name on the radio.

Security officials didn’t pay up. Instead, they took Ryan Michael Cain, 22, into custody and charged him with a misdemeanor count of unlawful entry, according to U.S. Superior Court online records.

He was released and ordered to stay away from a several block area around the White House. Cain is due back in court on Sept. 28.

NBC Washington reports that Cain scaled a barrier marked β€œRestricted Area Do Not Enter.”

He reportedly approached the White House on Pennsylvania Avenue Wednesday morning, was questioned by Secret Service agents, and soon after climbed the barrier to collect money after radio station WKYS 93.9 FM reportedly mentioned his name.
