Bowie Names New City Manager

Alfred Lott is a longtime area resident who takes over a position that has been vacant since June.

BOWIE, MD — The city of Bowie has a new city manager after an "exhaustive" nationwide search: Alfred Lott, who resides in the Northridge section of Bowie, will assume the top non-elected position in the Bowie government on Dec. 19.

He will take over for David Deutsch, who retired after 23 years back in June. Assistant City Manager John Fitzwater had been acting as city manager in the interim, according to a statement.

Lott served as public works director of Takoma Park, Md., as well as assistant city manager of College Park and city manager of Albany, Ga.
