Bowie Theatres Win 4 WATCH Awards

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Two Bowie-based theatre troupes had strong showings at the Washington Area Theatre Community Honors awards show Sunday night, taking home four awards.

2nd Star Productions received 21 nominations and won two awards, one for outstanding set painting in a musical for "Guys and Dolls" and another for outstanding music direction for "H.M.S. Pinafore."

Bowie Community Theatre also took home two awards out of 11 nominations, winning outstanding set design in a play and outstanding set painting in a play, both for "Foxfire."

WATCH is an organization founded to recognize the "artistic and technical excellence in community theatre throughout the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area," according to their website. The awards ceremony was held at The Birchmere in Alexandria on Sunday night.
