Brand New PG County Hospital Takes One Giant Step Forward: Report
The Maryland Health Care Commissioner has reportedly given his stamp of approval for the project to move forward.

LARGO, MD — The proposed Prince George's County Regional Medical Center in Largo has just taken a big step forward after Maryland Health Care Commissioner Robert E. Moffit recommended the project for approval, according to a report.
The Washington Post is reporting that Moffit submitted a letter on Friday stating that the project planners and other involved organizations had met all state criteria. Now, the project goes before a 15-member commission on Oct. 20, but that is seen as a rubber-stamp of Moffit's endorsement, the report states.
The lot in Largo has been set aside for the hospital for the past three years, and Moffit's approval could mean that construction could start soon on the hospital.

The project is expected to cost about $543 million.
"The new Regional Medical Center will be state-of-the-art," according to a statement on the Prince George's County website. "It is being constructed as part of a strategy to transform the county’s healthcare system into one which will support the improvement of the health of the residents of Prince George’s County and the Southern Maryland region. The Regional Medical Center will be located at Largo Town Center, at the intersection of Lottsford Road and Arena Drive. It will be directly accessible from the Capital Beltway's (I-495) Arena Drive Exit 15."
