Car Crashes Into Hospital Building, 8 ICU Patients Affected: Report

Eight ICU patients had to be relocated to a different hospital wing after a car crashed into a generator and the side of the sub-building.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A car crashed into a hospital Sunday morning, damaging a generator and a sub-building detached from the main hospital. Eight patients in the intensive care unit had to be relocated to a different wing.

At about 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Prince George’s Fire and EMS responded to the Adventist HealthCare Fort Washington Medical Center for a report of a crash. Fire officials told WTOP that a small fire was quickly extinguished and the car did not actually break through the building's exterior, but did damage the side of the building.

Officials said no injuries were reported and all patients impacted were safely relocated. The driver also was uninjured.
